                  Importance of Agriculture in Nepal

Nepal is an agro-based country. Most of the people in Nepal depend on agriculture. Agriculture provides us with daily needs such as crops, vegetables, fruits, etc. Most of the cottage industries in Nepal are also based on agriculture because it supplies them with raw materials. Similarly, modern industries are supplied with raw materials that belong to agriculture. We can cut down imports (आयात) and increase exports (निर्यात) if we can produce adequate (प्रशस्त) agricultural products. From the exports of the agricultural products, we can earn foreign currency which can be used to boost up (माथि उठाउन) economic status (अवस्था) of the country. Furthermore, the majority of the people (बहुसंख्यक जनता) are employed in the sectors of agriculture. In order to develop the country rapidly, the government should give high priority (प्राथमिकता) on agricultural development.
